Day 17 26 August

We were bused to Kampong , about a 3 hr drive.

On the way we stopped a small village which specializes in cooking insects.

I had some small grasshoppers,very bland, some larger grasshoppers, quite tasty,  some water beetles, bland, some tarantula spiders, tasty, and a stuffed frog, chewy but with a nice taste.

We arrived just be before lunch and I went and had fish and chips for lunch.

After lunch I went on a city Tuk Tuk tour.

The first stop was the oldest temple in the area.

Monkeys have in the last  5 years moved in to the area and people are advised not to carry anything, including water, in their hands as the monkeys are likely to snatch it. Apparently they can differentiate between locals and tourists and only give tourists a hard time.

The next stop was small village in the countryside. The residents and their children were very friendly.

Cotton weaving

They produce silk in the area but it was a holiday today because it was a special full moon and all we saw were silk worms eating.

After the tour we went to a family for a home cooked meal. Very delicious 

At the end of the meal we got to taste a drink made from spirits which had Tarantulas soaked in.
