Day 7 16 August

Today is a free day. I decided that I would have an easy morning . I read my Kindle up until 8.30am, at which time I decided to have breakfast. There was a restaurant just next door and I had a Continental breakfast.

After breakfast I went back and did some more reading.

After which I went and had a lunch of spring rolls washed down with the 3,000dong beer previously mentioned.

I had booked on a tour to the Myson Holly land this afternoon.
.
This trip visited what remains of the brick Temple complex of the champa kingdom. There were temples on the site since the 2nd century, however up until the 6th century they were wooden so there are no remains. The later temples have had the problem that the Americans decided to bomb them. Given that no one ever lived in the complex it seems an insane decision.

Some of the complex has been restored and work is continuing on restoration.

A few pictures from the trip there and from the sight.

This is the first time in Vietnam that we have ventured into the mountain region, if only to the foothills. One advantage was that we had relief from the hot humid climate of the coastal region.

After I got back I decided that I would have another 3,000dong beer. Whilst I was there I kept being joined by other members of the group and about 9 of us including the guide ended. up
staying for dinner. I had Pho with pork.

After dinner we had a 9.30pm bus to catch to Da Nang from which we caught an overnight train to Nha Trans.
